How IN-SYNCH Helped SETGO Salesforce Experts Tackle Their Toughest Integration Yet

Seamlessly integrating complex software systems can feel like solving a giant puzzle. For Tom Lemirand, president of SETGO Partners, the stakes were high when a major client needed to connect Salesforce CRM with a highly customized Sage 100 system – including user-defined fields and third-party addons. While his team had the Salesforce knowledge covered, Lemirand knew that they needed a partner with Sage 100 integration expertise.

SETGO: Enabling Holistic Salesforce Implementation

Founded in 2020, SETGO Partners helps businesses align “people, process, and technology” to maximize Salesforce’s potential. The company works directly with Salesforce in a symbiotic relationship: they help Salesforce sell new deals, and Salesforce recommends SETGO as an implementation partner for new and existing Salesforce implementations.

SETGO operates on the principle that software isn’t a magic fix—it enhances well-designed business processes. As Lemirand puts it, “Software can only enhance a business process—it can’t build one.”

Lemirand notes that Salesforce CRM gives salespeople visibility to certain ERP data that they normally can’t access: “The things that are really important to salespeople—inventory levels, what’s on backorder, are my clients paying, are they on credit hold—all that stuff you can’t see in Salesforce unless you have an ERP integration. So integration enhances it and brings it a step up. If you can see that data real-time when you’re in the field or on a call with a client, you can have that conversation face-to-face instead of after the fact.”

By integrating Salesforce CRM with various ERPs, SETGO enables seamless operations for SMBs.

How It’s Going

Having found our team through an internet search, Western Nut reached out to find out whether IN-SYNCH could be the integration solution for them. After speaking with our experts, they decided to implement IN-SYNCH to integrate their Shopify e-commerce site, retail stores (through Shopify POS), and Sage 100 ERP.

After our team fully implemented IN-SYNCH at Western Nut, Loren saw immediate improvement. “The new website is working tremendously well,” he says. “Not double-entering data is huge to reduce errors. We used to have to import daily sales manually, but now it just happens in the middle of the night: we come in the morning and there’s our sales! Our Shopify integration, because of IN-SYNCH, is much more automated.”

Western Nut’s IN-SYNCH integration allows them to enter new inventory items in Sage 100 that automatically populate in Shopify. In addition, they can bring over e-commerce sales data as well as cash receipts and credit cards from Shopify into Sage, where they balance their books. With Shopify POS, their retail stores are integrated into this ecosystem as well.

Creating a usable and functional website requires a lot of work behind the scenes. In 2023, Western Nut decided to overhaul their whole website. (The usability wasn’t great—there were over 20 tutorial videos with instructions on how to use it!) At the same time, they knew they needed a new integration solution. Loren recalls that, with the old website, his employees had to enter every bit of data twice: once into Sage 100 ERP, and once into their Shopify website. Their previous e-commerce partner promised Sage 100 integration of wholesale and retail orders, but this never materialized. It was time for a change.

Sage 100: Unlocking Potential with the Right Tools

As SETGO expanded, their projects grew increasingly complex, requiring them to integrate Salesforce CRM with a wide variety of ERP systems. Sage 100, with its robust capabilities and extensive customization options, presented unique challenges. Integrating its user-defined fields and third-party add-ons required advanced tools and expertise that went beyond the standard integration solutions available.

In addition to real-time data exchange, their client required historical data transfer involving millions of records. Their client recommended SETGO investigate the IN-SYNCH solution that is well-known within the Sage 100 eco-system because of its capabilities to integrate with just about any third-party platform. SETGO turned to IN-SYNCH to help bridge the gap.

Two Integration Experts are Better Than One

SETGO quickly discovered that IN-SYNCH had just what they needed: a proven, flexible integration tool. Their developers could use standard Application Programming Interface protocols for the needed bi-directional connections. Since their developers already had extensive knowledge of Salesforce and integrations in general, SETGO used the Connector API with IN-SYNCH.

Over the entire project, SETGO and the IN-SYNCH developers worked the respective roles to implement the API and develop the connection to Salesforce CRM. “We were able to meet as needed to get our problems solved,” Lemirand says. “The IN-SYNCH team was responsive, which greatly assisted the learning curve and project timeline.”

Ultimately, SETGO was able to complete the complex integration to the client’s satisfaction

Another Success Using IN-SYNCH

After the first successful project, SETGO received a referral from the IN-SYNCH team when they had a Sage 100/Salesforce integration project request. This client had a Salesforce CRM integration project fail and again the bar was set high. When SETGO introduced the capabilities of IN-SYNCH and the SETGO team, the client was impressed, commenting “This is exactly what we’ve been searching for!”

For this integration, SETGO chose to use DSD’s developer database integration. In this scenario, the developer hosts a local SQL server database that contains a copy of the Sage data required for the specific integration project. The developer works with that database to push and pull data in and out of Sage via the IN-SYNCH module. Lemirand noted “this use-case required having access to the staging database, to receive a record of activity and take snapshots as needed.” The developer database integration allowed them the flexibility to use the method that worked best for this client.

An Ongoing Partnership

SETGO has started on a third integration project to use IN-SYNCH– providing clients using Sage 100 with the best integration experience possible.

“Using IN-SYNCH has enabled us to successfully build complex integrations with Sage 100 and Salesforce,” Lemirand says, “we have yet another technology partner we can trust!”

There’s nothing the IN-SYNCH development team loves more than delivering the perfect solution to a challenging integration—and it’s even better when the projects include partners like SETGO.
